Tokyo FinTech Meetup is pleased to present two prominent speakers for this event: Bernardo David from the Tokyo Institute of Technology, and Sami Mian from Hedera Hashgraph, allowing us to discuss the academic and commercial perspectives on Blockchain during one evening.
Bernardo will cover “Privacy in Cryptocurrencies and Smart Contracts”. Contrary to popular belief, blockchain-based cryptocurrencies and smart contracts were not designed with privacy in mind. Indeed privacy is not guaranteed by most popular blockchain systems, as demonstrated by a number of methods that succeed in de-anonymizing and following transactions in many of those systems. In his talk, Benardo will start by discussing the main privacy issues in blockchain systems. Next, he will discuss current solutions for privacy preserving cryptocurrencies that aim at solving these issues. Finally, he will briefly discuss the main challenges in designing privacy preserving smart contracts and possible solutions.
The Hedera hashgraph platform provides a new form of distributed consensus; a way for people who don’t know or trust each other to securely collaborate and transact online without the need for a trusted intermediary. The platform is lightning fast, secure, and fair, and, unlike some blockchain-based platforms, doesn’t require compute-heavy proof-of-work. Hedera enables and empowers developers to build an entirely new class of distributed applications never before possible.
